The dry season from April to October offers the best conditions. Peak months (June-August) have the clearest skies but coldest nights (down to -10°C/14°F). Spend 2-3 days acclimatizing in Cusco (3,400m) before your trek. Train with cardiovascular exercise and hill hiking for 2-3 months before. Cell phone coverage is extremely limited or non-existent on most of the trek. You may get occasional signal near some villages, but don't rely on it. This makes the trek a true digital detox and wilderness experience.
