The best time to visit the city of Cusco is from May to October; this is the dry season in Cusco and also the busiest season. If you are planning to visit Cusco during these months, we recommend booking your tours and hotels in advance.
Cusco is located at 3,399 meters (11,151 feet) above sea level; however, some of the Inca sites around Cusco could be at a higher altitude; for example, Sacsayhuaman is at 3,700 meters.
Actually, no, because the tap water in Cusco has so much cloring, and it can affect your stomach or cause some problems if you are not used to it. However you can use it for washing your hands, face or brushing your teeth.
Well, Cusco airport is not big, but we recommend being there at least two hours before your flight departs. Cusco airport's name is Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport with code CUZ.
We usually recommend spending three days in Cusco as a minimum to explore the most outstanding spots; however, if you want to explore the entire highlights of the Cusco region, such as Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake, and Sacred Valley, you need at least a week in Cusco.
Yes. Walking through the streets of the city center is safe, but we recommend that you don't walk alone after midnight; some drunk people can offend you. If you are going to some pubs or clubs, these should be near the city center.
Don't throw toilet paper in the toilet in Peru. It can end up clogging pipes or the sewer system. Keep in mind that there is no toilet paper in the public bathroom; keep some with you.
Yes, Cusco has Uber taxi service, so download the app and start using it since your first hour in Cusco and Peru. There are also some other taxi services, such as Taxi Cusco Vip or Rapi Taxi.
Well, it will depend on what taxi company you are taking and also on your hotel locations. Cusco Airport: Cusco city center usually charges 15 to 20 soles, which is around $4 to $5 USD.
The weather in Cusco regions and part of the Andes is unpredictable even if the weather forecast says it’s sunny we can’t trust in it. It is an impossible question for us to answer. Historically April through September is the dry season, November through February is the rainy season and March and October and bridge months - a mixture of both. But the clouds have not followed these rules in the last few years. Prepare for sun and rain no matter when you come. As far as temperatures go, that is consistent throughout the year. Mornings and evenings are always cold. Make sure to bring a fleece jacket for the mornings and a down jacket for the evenings.
Cusco has two well-marked seasons: the dry season, from May to October, with rare rain during the week, and the wet season, from November to April, with some heavy rain during the week. However, in the mountains, it can change easily; some days could have a couple sunny hours and a couple hours of rain.
